Books and trophyThe National Book Critics Circle (NBCC) has announced its list of finalists for this year’s awards in Fiction, Poetry, Biography, Autobiography, Criticism, and Nonfiction. The awards will be given out in New York on March 10, 2011. NBCC was founded in April 1974 at the Algonquin Hotel in New York City, with the purpose of extending the Algonquin Round Table to a national conversation.

Other Spring-time book awards include the Pulitzer Prizes, awarded in May in a variety of categories, including Journalism, Fiction, History, Nonfiction, and Poetry. The finalists will be announced in April, so stay tuned.

The PEN/Faulkner Award in Fiction ceremony is also held in May, at the Folger Library in Washington.

And the Bollingen Prize for Poetry, awarded every other year, is due to be announced soon. The winner 2 years ago was JHU’s own Allen Grossman.
