Turn your overdue books into food for the hungry, May 9-24
From Monday, May 9 through Tuesday, May 24, you can reduce your library fines by as much as $10.00 by donating non-perishable food at the Milton S. Eisenhower Library. Donated items will benefit the Church of the Guardian Angel Food Pantry.
Located in Remington, the Church of the Guardian Angel’s walk-up food pantry strives to alleviate hunger in North Baltimore by providing groceries and other essential items to individuals and families living near the Homewood campus.
For every unopened, unexpired non-perishable food item donated, the library will reduce your overdue fines by $1.00 to a maximum of $10.00. Bring donations to the MSE Library’s service desk between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.
- Canned soup, canned chicken, canned tuna, SpaghettiOs, and nutritional shakes like Ensure are particularly needed. Boxed pasta, mashed potatoes, shelf-stable milk, and juice are also welcome, as are gluten-free, low-sodium, vegan, and other dietary considerations.
- Items that are expired, damaged, or perishable will not be accepted.
- Food for Fines only works on overdue fines. Lost book charges, damaged item fees, or other fees associated with your library account are not eligible.
- Food for Fines does not extend to other Johns Hopkins library locations.
Don’t have any overdue fines? We will still accept any items on our list.
