February 24 – 28 is Fair Use/Fair Dealing Week.
But why should you care?
- parody and satire
- quoting and citing
- scanning and photocopying
Fair Use lets you use copyrighted materials without the creator’s permission. If Fair Use didn’t exist, then you’d have to contact the creator each time you wanted to quote or cite an article or book, make new art that references someone else’s work, use a book in a course you teach, or create a parody of a movie or song.
