Well, it may not be AirTran and Southwest, but the recently announced merger of EBSCO Publishing (EBSCO) and the H.W. Wilson Company (Wilson) will enable you to fly more effectively and efficiently through your research!

Which Article Literature Databases Do These Companies Provide?

For an annotated list, click on the EBSCO A-Z and WilsonWeb A-Z List links, which display in the Alphabetical menu within the “Search a Database” box on the library’s home page. Links to specific databases also appear in that section or from the library’s subject-specific menus.

Major interdisciplinary periodical indexes include Wilson’s Omnifile Full-Text Mega and EBSCO’s Academic Search Complete. Selected “core” subject-specific ones from EBSCO are Business Source Complete, PsycINFO, ERIC, and EconLit with Full-Text.   A few of the key subject indexes from Wilson include Art Full-Text, Humanities Full-Text, and Social Sciences Full-Text.

How and When Will the Merger Impact Us?

The combination of the companies’ strengths will result in richer products and services.  Benefits will include the integration of unique full-text content; improved abstracting, indexing and controlled vocabularies; and an enhanced platform that will provide more relevant searching and retrieval.

Wilson databases will be loaded onto EBSCOhost over the next few months, but EBSCO will maintain WilsonWeb until the transition is complete.

Stay tuned!
