One of the most frequently asked questions at the Information Desk and to the Ask a Librarian e-mail is “how do I get an office, carrel, or locker in the library?” 

This valuable real estate actually belongs to the academic departments, each of which have a certain number of offices, carrels, and lockers. The departments assign them to their faculty (offices) and grad students (carrels and lockers). Once faculty members or grad students receive their assignment from their department, the library’s Support Services Department gives them the key.

If you haven’t received an assignment from your department, don’t despair! You can get a short-term locker (48 hour loan) by asking at the Circulation Desk.
