The beginning of October marks the start of â€œNobel seasonâ€œ. The first prize awarded is in medicine (October 8 this year). Other prizes are also scheduled to be announced on specific days. But for the best of all Nobel prizes (IMHO), Literature, the Academy always keeps the exact date a secret, as well as the fabled â€œshort listâ€ of 5 contenders for the annual honor.
Names that are usually tossed about include Philip Roth, Mario Vargas Llosa, Joyce Carol Oates, and Salman Rushdie. Personally, Iâ€™m rooting for the Spanish writer (who writes in French), Jorge Semprun. Stayed tuned to the Library Blog. The winner will appear here on the morning of Octoberâ€¦..
