JSTOR is one of our more popular library resources. Between January and August of 2011, JHU researchers downloaded 207,558 JSTOR articles. This demonstrates how much we depend upon and appreciate JSTOR’s mission of providing “discovery, access, and preservation of scholarly content” to the academic community.
JSTOR now provides access to early literature (not covered by copyright restrictions) for the world through their Early Journal Content program. They provide a search page, video tutorial, even a FAQ.
While JSTOR didn’t specifically mention Open Access in their announcement, I know Open Access supporters will celebrate their release of scholarly material to the world at large. I know I do!
