This June, we at the libraries encourage you to celebrate your identity, your community, and your people! In honor of Pride Month, here is a list of projects, resources, materials and events that serve the LGBTQ+ community here at the Johns Hopkins University.

Education:

  • Safe zone trainings are available for students, staff, and faculty of the Johns Hopkins community to help attendees become better allies for the LGBTQ+ community
  • LGBTQ Life has education resources on their website, including resources for people within the LGBTQ+ community to learn from and share

Community Support:

  • Student groups host meetings and events to support the LGBTQ community
  • Identity-specific meetups are available to help people find and connect to their community
  • The Johns Hopkins OUTlist is a resource consisting of members of the Johns Hopkins community, including faculty, staff, alumni, undergraduate students/postgraduate students, and fellows who identify as LGBTQ+
  • Pride Alumni Affinity hosts events and gatherings for the JHU LGBTQ+ Alumni community
  • The Gender Affirming Closet provides students and affiliates with the opportunity to explore their gender expression in ways that may otherwise be inaccessible to them due to un-affirming environments and access to adequate funds

  • The Johns Hopkins Center for Diversity & Inclusion represents JHU at the Baltimore Pride Parade

  • Trans Introduction, a starting place to learn about the transgender community
  • Links, a variety of links to national and international organizations that can help you learn more about LGBTQ+ issues
