Join subject specialists from your discipline for a guided tour of recent and notable acquisitions.

All Hopkins affiliates are welcome, and each session will be held in the Garrett Room of the Eisenhower Library (Q-level at the south end, next to Cafe Q). Free coffee provided by the Friends of the Libraries.

Subject areas, dates, and times are as follows, and you can register online.

HUMANITIES – Tuesday, October 5, 2010: 4:30-5:30pm – Register

Newly acquired materials include databases for historical newspapers, the African Writers Series, Opera in Video, new image resources, and rare printed materials in East Asian studies.

SOCIAL SCIENCES – Wednesday, October 6, 2010: 4:30pm-5:30pm – Register

Databases and archives to be showcased include Passport GMID, Roper Center for Public Opinion Research, and Ethnographic Video Online.

SCIENCES AND ENGINEERING – Thursday, October 7, 2010: 4:30-5:30pm – Register

Resources to be discussed included SciFinder Web, a web version of standard chemistry database SciFinder Scholar, and Reaxys, an online version of two standard chemistry databases (Gmelin and Beilstein). We’ll also highlight resources that are so new, we don’t have access yet. These include International Tables for Crystallography and The Grey Sheet.
