In case you missed the April 4th dust-up over at the School of Public Health, here’s the scoop. For a short time the term “abortion” could not be searched in Popline, a database about reproductive health. Popline is created by the Hopkins School of Public Health, using funds from USAID. Apparently, USAID complained about a few of the citations found using “abortion” as a search term.

While there are plenty of blog postings and newspaper articles about this, see Dean Klag’s letter for his response. The ACRLog provides a look at a librarian’s response to this. Personally, I support full access to information and am proud of Dean Klag’s quick response.

April 8 update: Dean Klag has finished the investigation and reports on it here.
