On Saturday, April 5th, the spirit of the Sheridan Libraries and University Museums was alive and well at Library Libations, a lively gathering for alumni with, current and former staff, interns, and friends of the Libraries and Museums. The event offered a chance to reconnect, reminisce, and raise a glass to the places that have meant so much to so many.
Guests mingled over food and drinks while enjoying a hands-on printmaking station organized and run by current Special Collections students. Attendees had the opportunity to create custom prints and tote bags using original linocuts based on items drawn from Special Collections, and designed by Elena Echavarria ’25.

Throughout the event, we invited guests to share their favorite memories from their time with the Libraries and Museums. Their handwritten responses reminded us why these experiences are both unique and powerful:
“Getting to see some of the rare books for a literature class.”
“Growing old on C Level.”
“Working as a clerk and wandering the stacks to shelve books and pull holds.”
“*Formed one of my closest friendships on M-Level. *Driving around Baltimore in the Evergreen director, Lori’s, car to learn about Olmstead. *Recording oral histories with trans activists in Joseph Plaster’s class.”
These memories, and others that were shared throughout the afternoon, highlight the unique role the Libraries and Museums play not just in academic life, but in building a sense of community and connection at Hopkins.
Thank you to everyone who came out, participated, and made the evening one to remember. And special thanks to our incredible students and staff who helped bring Library Libations to life. We hope to make Library Libations a recurring Alumni Weekend tradition!
We’re building a community of those who’ve studied, worked, interned, researched, or simply found inspiration in Johns Hopkins’ libraries and museums. Whether you were a student worker, fellow, class participant, or occasional visitor, we want to hear your story and connect with others who share your experience.
Tell us about your connection through our short survey, and help us spread the word to fellow alumni, colleagues, and friends who may also be part of this story.
Here’s to more memories in the stacks, archives, and museums, more stories shared, and more events to come!
