Read It and Eat It, our annual edible book festival will be occurring at the Glass Pavilion on Monday, March 31st from 12:30pm-3pm. Of course, that means it is once again time for that age old question: Are you a taster or baker? Fortunately, we created a quiz that will answer that most ponderous and contentious unknown! Rest assured that whether you are a baker or a taster, your skill set will be needed to make our festival a whimsical success!
What’s in it for you as a baker? Fame! Glory! The creation of something that has never once been baked before, to be forever immortalized in our Edible Book Fest photo albums. Simply concoct a fun dessert or baked good (we adore the Bread Arts!) inspired by a book or literary character you love. Not only will you shock and amaze the JHU Community with your stellar reads-n-bakes, buy you will be in the running for an assortment of fun and fab prizes that you could win by the power of popular vote, including book-themed tote bags, super-cute stuffed animals (well, stuffed slices of pie, but you know what I mean), livestock-sized award ribbons, super-snazzy notebooks and notepads, and much more! You can get a sneak peak of the prizes by walking by the Special Collections Reading Room (M-level, Brody Learning Commons). You have until March 26th to submit an entry to the festival via our online form.
So Many Delicious Edible Books From Last Year’s Festival!
What about tasters? Well, your palette is gonna have a field day at our festival! You can sample as many edible books as you’d like, vote for your faves, enter our fun raffles for fancy Winnie-the-Pooh and Alice in Wonderland-themed fine china designed by the artist Rory Dobner. Plus, bakers and tasters alike can decorate cupcakes, enjoy a savory course with some freshly popped popcorn, and get a cute memento of the event from our vintage photo booth!
