This June, we at the libraries encourage you to celebrate your identity, your community, and your people! In honor of Pride Month, here is a list of projects, resources, materials and events that serve LGBTQ people on the Johns Hopkins campus.
Education:
- Safe zone trainings are available for students, staff, and faculty of the Johns Hopkins community to help attendees become better allies for the LGBTQ+ community
- LGBTQ Life has education resources on their website, including resources for people within the LGBTQ+ community to learn from and share
Community Support:
- Student groups host meetings and events to support the LGBTQ community
- Identity-specific meetups are available to help people find and connect to their community
- LGBTQ Life hosts a peer mentorship program to allow students to connect with another member of the LGBTQ+ community to find support
- The Johns Hopkins OUTlist is a resource consisting of members of the Johns Hopkins community, including faculty, staff, alumni, undergraduate students/postgraduate students, and fellows who identify as LGBTQ+
- Pride Alumni Affinity hosts events and gatherings for the JHU LGBTQ+ Alumni community
Campus Support:
- All-gender restrooms are available on campus to all students, staff, and faculty on campus. A map of all locations for these and single-occupancy restrooms is available from LGBTQ Life
- The University supports all members of its community in using their preferred or chosen name where possible
- LGBTQ Life’s website has resources for students who wish to share their chosen name and pronouns with faculty and classmates, and information to refer them to for an introduction to transgender identities
Events:
- LGBTQ Life and other JHU departments host events relating to LGBTQ+ students, history, and lived experiences
