With the academic year now complete (congratulations to the Class of 2011), construction work will kick into high-gear on the Brody Learning Commons site and inside the Milton S. Eisenhower Library as we prepare both buildings for the Commons’ grand opening in summer 2012.
Some of this work will be noisy, but it will be contained to specific floors and will take place between 6:30 AM and 3 PM. We will have earplugs at the Circulation Desk on M-level for users, and, as always, we appreciate your patience during this process.
Planned outages or utility interruptions will be announced via our social media outlets (blog, Facebook, Twitter) and with physical signs in the library. Please refer any questions or concerns to Ask a Librarian. Work begins Friday, May 27 and will include:
- Installation of insulation and piping at the south end of D-level: Faculty offices D1-D3 will be closed for the summer; other offices will be open after 3 PM each day.
- Structural work on M-level: The south wall on M-level will be moved north by 20 feet to accommodate work being done on the plaza outside. Also, the staircase connecting the plaza to the beach will be closed for the summer because of the work being done on the plaza.
- The light well on M-level will go dark for the duration of the summer in order to protect the sculpture inside.
In addition, sprinkler installation will take place at the south end of all floors of the library. This work will take place between 11 PM and 7 AM, and so we expect minimal disruption for users related to this work.
