Have you used any of our research guides yet? They’ve been around for almost two years now, and are very popular.

The box on the Sheridan Libraries home page labeled Research by Subject lets you browse the guides that deal with academic topics like economics, philosophy, and biotechnology. We have many more that you can see in this complete list. Some are about tools like RefWorks and LaTex. Others provide information about certain formats like newspapers. Some guides answer questions about the library for certain types of patrons: undergraduate students, faculty, graduate students, alumni, and visitors.

Why do I say they’re popular? Because we can tell how often the guides are visited. In 2011 our guides have been visited a total of 127,653 times. Below are the 5 most popular guides.

1. Business -19,901
2. History -5,834
3. Education -5,188
4. News & Newspapers -5,010
5. Art History – 4,336

I’m sure our two newest guides will be very popular: Copyright and E-Books.

BTW, our colleagues at the SAIS Mason Library have created research guides for their patrons; please feel free to use them.
