Here’s a great offer: free apps to help you, from the U.S. government.
Its website, www.usa.gov, now offers free apps for a wide variety of uses. Here are some examples that could help in these “back to school” days:
- My TSA (Transportation Security Administration) – For those flying back to school, here are frequently asked travel questions, such as what you can put in carry-on bags
- Alternative Fuel Locator (Department of Energy) – Are you driving to school in an energy-efficient vehicle? Use this app to find the 5 closest fueling sites for biodiesel, electricity E85 (ethanol), hydrogen, natural gas, and propane.
- U.S. Postal Service Tools – Are you expecting a shipment of textbooks? Find the nearest post office or collection box, or track a package
- America.gov Mobile (Department of State) – Are you new to America? This app is for you, including information, videos, and podcasts about visas, American life, and more.
