The penultimate screening in the Hopkins Summer Outdoor Films series promises to be, well, fantastic. Wes Anderson’s latest masterpiece, based on the Roald Dahl children’s novel by the same name, is a classic tail tale of good vs. evil. When Mr. Fox incurs the wrath of local farmers, he must defend his woodland friends from the vicious onslaught.
As recipient of numerous Academy Award and Golden Globe nominations, you would have no idea that Fantastic Mr. Fox marked Anderson’s first foray into the world of animation. If the stop-motion aesthetic appeals to you, check out the other examples in our collection. Or if you’re a just a fan of quirky indies, you’ll be happy to know that the library owns the entire Wes Anderson filmography.
The movie will be shown on the Keyser Quad in front of Gilman Hall on the Homewood Campus (rain location: Shriver Hall Auditorium). Food and music by Deep Tree Mantra begin at 7:30; the screening will start at sunset.
