Join the Friends of the Libraries at Evergreen Museum & Library on April 20 at 5:30 p.m. for a presentation by Paul Johnson, internationally renowned book artist. Johnson will pull a library’s worth of pop-up books — many his own, others made by British schoolchildren — from a single suitcase and discuss the power of the book as an aesthetic, architectural form.
England-based Paul Johnson is recognized worldwide as a book artist and for his pioneering work in developing literacy through the book arts. He is the author of over fifteen books, including A Book of One’s Own, Literacy Through the Book Arts, and Pictures and Words Together.
Johnson’s work is represented in most of the major collections in the United States, including the Cooper-Hewitt Museum in New York and the Library of Congress.
