Happy Origin Day!

While it isn't an official holiday (unless you're a biologist), November 24th is the anniversary of the publication of Charles Darwin's On the Origin of Species. First published in 1859, this description of natural selection is now 150 years old.

Many groups have provided information about this book's impact. Here are a few links.

  • Complete Works of Charles Darwin Online - Look through the entire book online and see what events are celebrating this event.
  • Darwin 200 - A wonderful resource about Darwin, his book, and their impact, from the Natural History Museum of London.
  • On Darwin's 'On the Origin of Species' - A New York Times article that asked scientists to point out significant portions of the book and explain why they're important. (Only accessible to JHU affiliates.)
