That’s the idea behind the One Maryland One Book program. This year the Maryland Humanities Council has chosen The Cellist of Sarajevo by Steven Galloway as its book. In the book, which is based on true events, follow how a cellist’s performances affect different individuals in the war-torn city of Sarajevo.

Throughout the coming months there are events all around Maryland involving the issues brought up in this book. Two events worth noting are:

  • September 30th @ 12 PM the author will be speaking, answering questions, and signing books at the Baltimore Book Festival
  • October 3th @ 1-2 PM the Sheridan Libraries’ and Museums’ Diversity Committee will be holding a brownbag book discussion in the Hamburger Room of the MSE Library

Read away! You never know what will come of it.
