Academic year 2011-2012 is here! Where did the summer go? And what just happened over the weekend??? Welcome Class of 2015 and welcome back returning students and faculty. Below are answers to questions we frequently get the first few weeks.

Hours: we go back to 24/7 hours AFTER Labor Day, starting Tuesday, September 6. Q & M Levels will be open 24/7, A-D Levels will be open 7 am to 3 am. Until then, we’re open 8 am to midnight, August 29-September 1, 8 am to 10 pm September 2-3, 1 pm to midnight, September 4, and 8 am to midnight, September 5 (Labor Day).

Help: Librarians are here to answer your questions. Please see all the ways you can contact us! Looking for information by subject or by affiliation (undergraduate, graduate, faculty, alumni)? Check out our guides on every conceivable topic.

Textbooks: At the beginning of every fall semester, we get lots of questions about textbooks. So many that we wrote about the likelihood of finding textbooks in the library. Inform yourself here.

Reserves: We’ve got print reserves and e-reserves. To access e-reserves, students need a password that their instructor will provide.

JCard and JHED ID: If you’re a new student, you’ll soon learn the power of these two items for library resources. Your JCard is your library card. When you add money to it, it also serves as your print and photocopy card. Your JHED ID is your passport to library resources from off-campus as well as your account in the catalog.
