Are you looking for an awesome way to celebrate the last week of classes? Then why not head to Mount Vernon Place Saturday, May 7, and check out Baltimore’s very own Flowermart! Not only is the Flowermart a great time to wear silly  hats that would make the British monarchy blush, but it is also gives you an excuse to visit the Peabody Institute and the George Peabody Library!

The Institute will be open from 11-8, and will have a do-it-yourself scavenger hunt starting at the Rouse Visitor Center. To make things even more festive, the Flowermart coincides with the 171st birthday of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky! Visitors are invited to make birthday cards and decorations in the Peabody Institute’s Mews Gallery. Cake will be served between 1 and 2 p.m. Yum!

The Peabody Library will be having family activities, including the distribution of free coloring books featuring illustrations from our rare books! The family activities will be from 12-2 and 4:30-6. Brief talks will occur at 2, 3, 4 and will feature discussions on Japanese garden books, herbals, and library history!

Still undecided? Then definitely check out a slideshow of some of the gorgeous books that will be on display at the Peabody Library. If you’re nice, we’ll let you leaf through them!
