With the recent release of the critically-acclaimed movie “The Social Network”, Hopkins has officially gone Hollywood. But masquerading as Harvard isn’t our only claim to fame. Hopkins has starred in several films and television shows, including The Invasion, featuring Nicole Kidman, Head of State, with Chris Rock and HBO production Something the Lord Made.

Did you know that we’ve even made guest appearances in hometown hero David Simon’s hit television shows? The former Baltimore Sun reporter just won the prestigious MacArthur Genius Grant for his gritty, honest portrayal of urban Baltimore life. See what all the fuss is about by checking out Homicide, Life on the Street or The Wire from the AV Center on A-level.

And if you enjoy seeing Johns Hopkins in pop culture, don’t overlook works by Simon’s equally famous wife, author Laura Lippman. Her book By a Spider’s Thread even features a wedding at our own George Peabody Library

Now if you’ll excuse us, we’ll be sunning by the pool…

  1. LOl– Great blog post!

Don’t forget the seven-part documentary TV series– “Hopkins”– set at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. Although it’s no longer on ABC it was created as a real-life adjunct to the ABC hit Grey’s Anatomy.

GO JHU! — I’d like an autograph please!

    Hi Debbie!
“Always nice to hear from a fan…” 🙂
“Hopkins 24/7” is one of our favorites too! For those who haven’t seen it yet, head down to the AV Center and check it out.
